Hien Nguyen | Clinical Psychologist

BAppPsych (Hons), MPsych Coun and MPsychClin.

Hien is someone who brings heart, humour, and humanity into every space she enters. Outside of work, she’s usually laughing at her own jokes, sharing good food with people she loves, blasting music a little too loudly, or being delightfully silly with her kids—moments that keep her grounded, joyful, and connected to what truly matters.

As a psychologist, she pairs this warmth with deep clinical expertise. Hien has extensive experience supporting individuals with complex mental health presentations, including those navigating the challenges of the drug and alcohol sector, C-PTSD, and long-standing trauma histories. She understands that recovery is not linear and that healing is built on trust, safety, and genuine human connection.

Her therapeutic style is steady, compassionate, and attuned. She holds space for the messy, the painful, and the complicated—without judgment and without rushing. Clients often describe feeling seen, supported, and understood in a way that feels rare.

Whether you’re taking the first step or returning to therapy after a difficult experience, you are in safe hands with her.

Work History:

Hien’s work spans clinical practice, organisational psychology, and specialist assessment roles across government and emergency services, including extensive experience supporting members of the Australian Defence Force, Victoria Police, and Ambulance Victoria.

She has worked closely with individuals exposed to work-related trauma, cumulative stress, critical incidents, and psychologically demanding roles, bringing a deep understanding of the unique pressures faced by frontline and operational personnel. Hien is also highly skilled in fitness-for-duty and psychological assessment, combining rigorous, defensible assessment practices with a humane, person-centred approach.

Alongside assessment work, Hien has delivered trauma-informed care, wellbeing interventions, and trauma training, supporting both individuals and organisations to build psychological safety, resilience, and sustainable performance. Her clinical work is grounded in evidence-based trauma treatment, with particular expertise in complex trauma presentations and recovery following prolonged exposure to high-risk environments.

Above all, Hien is a strong client advocate. She is known for her calm presence, clinical clarity, and deeply compassionate style. She prioritises connection, dignity, and collaboration in all aspects of her work, ensuring clients feel respected, understood, and genuinely supported. With Hien, clients and organisations alike can be confident they are working with a psychologist who is both clinically robust and profoundly human.
